Honey Soy Chicken Wings in a Instant Pot

Let’s fly, yeah! We have wings!!!

Everybody loves a savory chicken wings with a perfect textured skin. You are ready to get your hands dirty once you know there is chicken wings on the menu. This is one of the perfect matches for appetizer menu, Dinner or even BBQ, for me it’s must to master how to cook the perfect honey wings on the planet.

In just 30 minutes you will master with a simple recipe how to cook your best chicken wings on earth, of course with your Instant Pot.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken wings- 1.5 pound
  • Water- half cup
  • Honey-1 tablespoon
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- 1 tablespoon
  • Shaoxing Wine- 1 tablespoon
  • Sliced ginger- 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch- 1.5 tablespoon
  • Light Soy Sauce- 2 tablespoons
  • Star Anise- 1 or 2 (for extra flavour
  • Garlic cloves- 4
  • Sugar-1 teaspoon
  • Dark soy sauce- 1 tablespoon
  • Shallot- 1

 

DIRECTIONS

1 let’s prepare the chicken marination. Mix Shaoxing wine, salt, sugar, dark soy sauce and light soy sauce. Put your chicken wings in this margination and let it settle for 20 minutes.

2 set your instant pot to saute function. Het it till you see “HOT”.

3 cover the base of your instant pot with oil after that add the chicken wings one by one to your instant pot, and brown each side for the wings for about 30 seconds. Don’t keep one side for very long time because sugar tends to burn quick, and make sure at the same time that each side is browned correctly. Remove to chicken and set them aside once It’s brown.

4 keep the saute mode selected, next you reduce the heat to medium and add garlic, ginger, star anise and the shallot, and just to make sure that fragments are released stir for 30 seconds.

5 add honey-water mixture in your instant pot as long as the bottom of the instant pot is hot, mix honey in ½ of cup water, mix well.

6 set your chicken wings in this mixture and pour on all the leftover marinade. select high pressure mode for 5 minutes of course after closing the lid. Time up, so turn the heat off and release the pressure naturally ( around 10 minutes).

7 if you want to taste the seasoning (which I advise you to do), go ahead !, now, the mixture would have a watery consistency, but it will be thickened up. if you are a fun of spicy tastes ass in desired spices and let it stir till you get your favorite thick sauce.

8 okay now the mixture is thick as you want it, you remove your chicken wings and put them aside. Turn the heat to medium and select saute mode again. Mix the cornstarch with cold water. Add the cornstarch and water mixture 1/3 step by step to the instant pot and keep on stirring. You will notice that mixture become thicker and thicker. Keep mixing until you obtain the sauce you like.

9 finally you can add the chicken wings and coat them well in the sauce, serve with any remaining sauce you still have
