Pot Roast and Potatoes in Instant Pot

Sundays and a perfect hearty meal. This classic recipe is one of the best dishes to cook and can take some time to prepare of course. The potatoes must have a smooth texture joined to a perfect thick gravy. A lot recipes exists on the internet, but, one of the best recipes is one made with your instapots. This recipes will take around 1 and half hour for 6 people.


  • 3 to 4 pound of boneless beef chuck eye roast- 1 (and should be trimmed)
  • Beef broth- 2 cups
  • Potatoes- 2
  • Salt, as per taste
  • Pepper, as per taste
  • Vegetable oil- 1 tablespoon
  • Yellow Onion- 1 ( fine chopped)
  • Tomato paste- 2 tablespoons
  • Dried Mushrooms- 1/2 ounce
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup water



1  Rinse your beef from rising and season it with some pepper and salt.

2  Select the saute mode on the instant pot, you will use this mode to brown your beef. Set the timer to 8-10 and add in some oil and your beef. Make sure your beef is browned on both faces, once desired results are achieved you can remove your beef from the instant pot.

3  Keep the saute function selected, add some chopped onions and some oil to your instant pot plus mushrooms and tomatoes paste and saute for 3-5 minutes, until onions become soft. Add the beef broth,   for 3 minutes you simmer until the broth is reduced a little bit.

4  place the beef ( browned of course), on the broth and top with tomatoes, secure your instant pot by placing the lid.

5  Now it’s time for high pressure, select it and set the timer to 90 min mark. Once your hear the beep of your instant pot, you can release pressure naturally for 15 minutes. After 15 the 15 minutes is up release all the pressure following quick release.

6  Be very careful removing the lid of your instant pot, after taking out the potatoes out from your instant pot to the serving dish follow it with your browned beef, and cover it in aluminum foil for a while, for around 15 minutes.

7  After achieving the 15 minutes, string the mixture to the instant pot again. This both will make the gravy of the dish by making it thick

8 Choose saute mode, to gave it the heavy consistency add in ¼ cup of water and ¼ cup of flour.

9 After you finish your gravy, take your beef, put it in the serving dish and season it with the gravy.

You can serve it with bread, garlic or some rice
